1996 – KdV Achieves Decade-ence
and
The Krewe of Drips & Discharges
Present
“The Ten Commandments of New Orleans”
In 1996, we all dressed as Nuns and Priests and came
up with some
pretty creative names which we proudly displayed.
We were up to 60 members this year, and distributed
the
“New Commandments for the Big Easy”
as our D&D handout along the parade route.
Our float, decorated as the Arc of the Covenant, was
pulled by a mule.
Unfortunately, our “hefty” mule attendant insisted on
riding the float and broke the frame.
It ended up on the back of a pick up truck – at the
end of the parade!
The weather was freezing that year, about 5 degrees.
By the time we got to the KDV DOO, there were several
cases of hypothermia,
and a few of us were sent home early.
